Welcome to all small boat paddlers - including members and non-members of Hood River Outrigger Canoe Club. This site provides communication for 1&2 person surfski, outrigger canoe paddlers, SUPers & kayak sailors for paddling events on/off the water in the Hood River area. Whether you are a new paddler, experienced or a want-to-be, join in and start meeting people for great paddling activities. Best use of this site is posting to the message board. Start a message string with your activity or respond to one with a comment. Make sure you closely monitor the string and read the comments because plans are very fluid. Modify your notification settings to make sure you get e-mails the way you want them. Consider having your email address link to your phone text messenger (For example, 5551234567@mms.att.net) Smart phone mobile access works best http://mobile.teamcowboy.com. This format make it easier to follow the message string than reading emails. You can respond with comments, but oddly you can't start a new. You have to go to the full version thru the link at the bottom. You can find more easily scheduled events on the schedule; however, many events are fairly spontaneous or last minute due to weather, time, changing conditions and personal availability. Look for these more spontaneous events on the message board. The Hood River area is home to the most enjoyable people on earth, and surprisingly they all paddle small boats! Come join us with flat water paddles, downwinders, after work paddles, hatchlaps, boatswaps and paddle-potlucks. No matter where you live, join us. Here is a helpful guide http://static-teamcowboy.com/files/Team%20Cowboy%20-%20Team%20Manager%20Quick%20Start%20Guide.pdf Feel free to contact me with comments Jeff Castleberry 541-490-6067

We are taking a break from hatch laps for a few weeks while we are in Tarifa, Spain for some fun ocean downwinding. We will try to get one more blow-out potuluck to close out the hatch lap paddling season when we get back.
Don't forget the paddle out for HROCC founder and beloved waterman Josh Sceva Sunday September 8th 2024 at 4:00 PM Frog Beach here in Hood River.

Sunday September 8th 2024 at 4:00 PM Frog Beach | Hood River, Oregon
The Hood River Outrigger Canoe Club (HROCC) is having a community ‘Paddle Out’ to honor and give tribute to the life and legacy of Josh Sceva – all are welcome. Josh founded HROCC in 2013 and brought the love of outrigger to hundreds of people. Josh was a lifelong Waterman, was known and loved by many community members in Hood River, Hawaii and Southern Oregon, and left his touch and impact on key elements in the Gorge. He left us far too soon on August 11, 2024. A separate Celebration of Life will be in the future. For this local Paddle Out please bring a few fresh flowers, your choice of floating device and dress for the water. HROCC will be on the water with some 6- person outriggers. There will be an informal gathering after to share stories so bring potluck food and drink if you plan to stay. Tables and eating utensils, plates, napkins etc. will be available.
Hey paddlers not much happening wind wise for hatch laps tonight but some mellow easterlies. If you would like to come out for a group social paddle show up at 6 pm and we'll do a tunnel 4 to Well's Island lap or something similar.
Bring some snacks and drinks for an after paddle social. Days are getting shorter so not many of these left.
